Volunteer

CONNECTED and HALO Clinics would not be possible without our volunteer team. See below for the variety of responsibilities volunteers have in our Clinics.

Volunteers are expected to commit a minimum of 1 academic year (Summer through Spring quarter) to clinic. Training sessions are held during summer session after candidates are interviewed and selected. Typically, new volunteers are accepted and onboarded once per academic year.

The CONNECTED Clinic volunteer application for the Fall 2024 term can be found here and is due by October 16, 2024 at 11:59 PM.

Interested applicants are encouraged to join us at an upcoming Info Session (10/11 at 7 PM), or email us any questions at connectedhealthclinic@gmail.com.

Case management

Volunteers serve as case managers, making weekly phone calls to group members. Each volunteer case manager manages an assigned case load.

Child care

During in-person group sessions, volunteers are responsible for child care for group members' children (ages 1+ year old). Because child care is a barrier to care for many parents, our clinic provides child care free of charge during group sessions.

Education and advocacy

Outside of group sessions, volunteers participate in community education and advocacy for perinatal mental health through our sister organization, PAN'DA (Postpartum Anxiety N' Depression Advocates) at UC Davis. Through general meetings, outreach events, and community service, volunteers learn more about perinatal mental health and raise awareness about it in the community.

Documentation

Volunteers are responsible for documentation of case management phone calls and group attendance in our electronic health record (EHR).

Observation

Many volunteers are interested in pursuing medicine, nursing, or careers in mental health and will have the opportunity to learn by observing group sessions facilitated by perinatal mental health providers.
